Does any of this sound familiar?

  • I’m still handling a lot of the day-to-day client work myself.
  • We barely do our own marketing (but our clients’ marketing is on point!).
  • I’m working nights and weekends…again.
  • I catch myself answering work emails during my kids’ sports games.

First off, don’t feel bad. You’re not alone.

I hear versions of this every week from agency founders. 

The truth is, this should not be the norm in our industry.

Here’s what I’ve found after researching why so many agencies get stuck:

It’s not about:

  • The location of your agency
  • The type of service you offer
  • Your sales skills
  • The number of years you’ve been in business

What’s the main factor that keeps agencies stuck?

The agency is under 1M in revenue.

But what’s so special about the 1M mark?

Well, after diving into the numbers, I realized it comes down to simple math:

  • Living costs: In most cities (especially in Western countries), you need at least $10k per month (maybe more) to cover the basics – housing, food, utilities, transportation, kids’ braces, etc.
  • Taxes: You must pay taxes, or bad things will happen. 🚔
  • Agency operations: Office, tools, software, phones – these expenses add up, even if you’re remote.

After covering all those costs, you’ve very little left for hiring top talent.

And what happens if you can’t hire top talent?

You end up doing everything: client work, sales, marketing, HR, billing, and bookkeeping. 😩

But what if there was another way?
